How to read this table

  • Website cited — The site the assistant quoted.
  • Times cited — How often it appeared across the answers.
  • Kind of surface — Whether it is a directory, a review platform, the press, a community — or blank for an ordinary website.
  • Tracked competitor — Yes means it is one of your known competitors: you have to outrank it. No, with a surface kind, means it is a platform you can get onto.
  • Links to you — Whether that site already links to you — if it does, you have a relationship to build on.

Questions about this table

What is this table actually measuring?

Real answers. The questions your pages should own were put to an AI assistant with web search enabled, and these are the sources it chose to quote. It is a direct reading of who the assistant trusts on your subject.

A platform is cited often and I am not on it — what do I do?

Get on it. When the assistant quotes a directory or review site, it is reading whatever that page says about your market. Joining puts you inside the source it already trusts, which is far faster than trying to be quoted directly.

How do I get cited directly instead?

Write pages that can be quoted. Put the question in the heading, answer it in the first two or three sentences, state specific numbers and dates, and cite your sources. Assistants lift passages that stand on their own without the surrounding page.

Why is a competitor cited when I rank above it in Google?

Ranking and being quoted are different things. Assistants favour pages that answer plainly and are corroborated elsewhere. A competitor with clear question headings and profiles on trusted third-party sites gets picked even from a lower position.

Does blocking AI crawlers affect this?

Yes, completely. If your robots.txt blocks the crawlers that answer engines use, you cannot be quoted at all, no matter how good the page is. The report's AI crawler access section shows exactly what your file currently says.

How often does this change?

Faster than search rankings, and less predictably — answers vary between runs even with no change on your side. Read the pattern across many questions rather than any single answer.

How fresh is this data?

It is the last data collected for your site — nothing is fetched live when you open this page. Each block of data is re-collected on its own schedule by the automatic tasks. The report page shows the collection status of every section, and the Re-collect all data button there starts a fresh round when you have applied your fixes.

Why does the total here differ from the number in the report?

It does not — the report simply shows the first 25 rows as a preview, and this page shows every row that was stored. What can differ is the number quoted in a check point: those are often counted over the whole domain by DataForSEO, while this table only holds the rows that were downloaded and kept.

How do sorting and paging work?

Click any column heading to sort by it; click it again to reverse the order. Rows with no value stay at the bottom either way. Pages hold 100 rows and keep your sort as you move between them, so the link you copy always reopens the same view.

What should I actually do with this table?

Use it to pick targets, not to admire numbers. Sort by the column that matches your goal, take the first handful of rows, and turn them into concrete work — a page to write, a link to ask for, a title to rewrite. The report's action plan already ranks the most urgent of those for you.
