How to use this list
Work down it in order: the first rows are the dead pages that the strongest sites link to. For each one, read what the page used to say (the Internet Archive link), write the page that should replace it on OriginalUniqueArt.com, then open “Who to write to” and tell each of those sites their link is dead and where a working equivalent is.
“Gone” means the page answered 404 or 410 — it is genuinely missing, and those are the ones worth the work. “Blocked” and “server error” usually mean the page is alive and simply refused the crawler that day.
What the words in this table mean
- Dead page
- An address on the competitor's site that no longer shows anything. Type it into a browser and you get an error page instead of content.
- Links to it
- How many links, anywhere on the web, still point at that dead address. Each one is a reader being sent to a page that is not there.
- Different sites
- How many separate websites those links come from. This is the number that matters: five links from one blog is one person to email, five links from five sites is five — and five chances to win one.
- Best site linking to it
- The most reputable of those sites, with its strength score from 0 to 1000. Roughly: above 500 is a name you would recognise, above 700 is a major publication. A link from a strong site is worth more than several from weak ones, which is why the table is sorted by it.
- Wording of the link
- The clickable words someone used for the link (SEO people call this the “anchor text”). It is the best clue to what the dead page contained, so it tells you what your replacement page needs to cover.
- Passes SEO value
- Some links carry a tag telling search engines not to count them (“nofollow”); the rest (“dofollow”) do pass credit to the page they point at. Both are worth having — a nofollow link still sends you real readers — but the ones that pass value help your search ranking too.
- What happened
- Gone — the page is really missing, and only these are opportunities. Blocked — the site refused AkOOre's check, so the page is probably fine. Server error — the site was down at that moment. Other — an answer that fits none of the above, and usually means nothing is wrong.
